Beta Hatch raises $3M to build North America’s largest mealworm facility in Cashmere, opening early 2021

Beta Hatch, an insect‑rearing startup founded in 2015 by PhD entomologist Virginia Emery, raised $3 million in a new round (bringing total equity to $5M plus $4.6M in public funding) to advance its technology and build a Cashmere, Washington facility. The new plant, scheduled to open in early 2021, will be North America’s largest mealworm production site with capacity for one ton of insect protein per day and will use waste heat from a nearby data center.
