Pack Ventures launches Seattle syndicate to back UW-linked startups, pledges 10% of future profits to University of Washington
Pack Ventures, a new early-stage Seattle VC, will invest $100K–$200K checks in startups tied to the University of Washington and has already backed five companies including Jeeva Wireless, Talus.bio and Monod Bio; the firm will return 10% of individual future profits to UW. The syndicate includes more than 35 founding investors from the Seattle VC and entrepreneur community and will target AI, robotics, computational biology, enterprise software and other high-growth areas.
DexCare, Providence spinout led by CEO Derek Streat, raises $50M to expand patient-access platform
Seattle health-tech startup DexCare, spun out of Providence’s digital innovation group, raised $50 million to accelerate platform development and go-to-market expansion; its software manages health system capacity and patient appointment booking and is used by Providence, Kaiser Permanente, Mass General Brigham, Houston Methodist and others. The round follows a $20 million raise last March and was led by Transformation Capital, whose managing partner emphasized patient competition as a major hospital issue in 2022.
MicrobiomX raises $1M pre-seed to commercialize stool collection, processing and capsule-encapsulation device
Seattle startup MicrobiomX raised $1 million in a pre-seed round to develop a device that collects, processes and extrudes stool into capsules for clinical fecal microbiota transplantation and offers microbiome analysis services. The company, launched in 2020 from UW and Seattle Children’s Hospital research after a $50,000 CoMotion grant, aims to simplify messy current stool-processing methods used for FMT and autologous FMT.
