Starfish Space raises $29M led by Shield Capital to fund three Otter satellite-servicing spacecraft for 2026 launches

Starfish Space raised $29 million led by Shield Capital to fund three full-size Otter satellite-servicing and inspection spacecraft aimed at life-extension in GEO and disposal in LEO, targeting launches in 2026; the company previously flew a sub-scale Otter Pup demo and has won multiple contracts including a $37.5 million U.S. Space Force docking mission.

Starfish Space to Boost Intelsat GEO Satellite with Otter Docking Mission, First Commercial Service Planned for 2026

Starfish Space will use its Otter docking spacecraft to rendezvous with a retired Intelsat satellite in a GEO graveyard orbit, then dock with and boost an operational Intelsat satellite to extend its life, in a landmark commercial mission planned for 2026. The companies hope this first commercial Otter mission kickstarts a large market for on-orbit servicing, enabling routine life extension and disposal services for expensive GEO satellites.
