Portal Space Systems Secures SpaceX Falcon 9 Launch for 2028 Motus Via Sol Mission, Debuts FLARE Solar Thermal Propulsion

Portal Space Systems contracted SpaceX to launch its Motus Via Sol mission on a Falcon 9 in 2028, debuting its FLARE solar thermal propulsion on the Supernova spacecraft and offering rideshare capacity via a partnership with Maverick Space Systems. Maverick will handle payload integration and market additional ESPA-class and cake-topper slots for third-party customers, letting Portal better control launch timing and manifest optimization.
