Portal Space Systems and Rebel Space develop onboard spectrum-monitoring for maneuverable satellites to detect RF interference
Portal Space Systems and Rebel Space are working to add onboard spectrum-monitoring technology to Portal’s maneuverable spacecraft so they can detect and characterize RF interference and electronic threats in orbit, rather than relying only on ground-based sensing. The collaboration could enable real-time attribution, geolocation and potential responses to jamming or suspicious electromagnetic activity for commercial and military satellites.

Portal Space Systems is preparing to ship its first Starburst-1 satellite to Florida for an October launch on SpaceX’s Bandwagon-5 rideshare while advancing plans for a larger, 1,100-pound Supernova spacecraft that will use solar thermal propulsion for greater orbital maneuverability.
